1. What is the purpose of the "Annoucements" menu option when all the annoucement dropdown fields in IVR, Queues, Ring Groups, etc alll reference System Recordings? Should "System Recordings" be called 'Annoucements'? I'm confused about this.

2. Looking at an IVR, where does a call go when a timeout occurs. I don't see how you can specify a t-dest (timeout desitination).

3. IVR tooltip says this: "The return path will be to any IVR that was in the call path prior to this IVR which could lead to strange results if there was an IVR called in the call path but not immediately before this."

I had to read this a dozen times to finally grasp it. wow...

thanks,

An announcement is comprised of system recordings that can be used as a destination with a further destination.

For example, I build a recording using 5 built in sounds, such as

"the number you have dialed"
"9"
"1"
"1"
"is not available"

and name it "youre_gonna_die"

Then I make an Announcement called "DID_911", and have it play the recording "youre_gonna_die"

Then I direct a DID to the announcement

Then I have the announcement terminate to a busy signal

So system recordings are the actual sounds built up, and the announcement can play recordings and further progress a call.

To make the "t" or "i" options work in an IVR, you simply list them in one of the boxes instead of a number, and give it a destination. So you could have an announcement that says "Learn how to mash the keypad" which has a destination of the IVR, and add it as the "i" option in the IVR. So when someone mashes the keypad, it says "Learn how to mash the keypad", then progresses back to the IVR.
