My system says " That extension not valid" or some such when you key the wrong extension. How can I get it to shoot back to the IVR or a ring group instead of hanging up.

in the IVR settings, there is a # of trys settings (forget its exact desc) that will allow the user X trys to get a option correct before hangup up on them.
 
In the IVR you can define exactly what you want to happen when an invalid entry happens with the "i".
