Recently my Raspberry Pi PBX server has suffered through unanticipated power outages. The system seems to survive them. The only hiccup is a loss in functionality in terms of connectivity with a Flowroute trunk after the interruption. For whatever reason, a Google Voice trunk functions correctly after the outage.
Still, I've read a few posts on the forum related to the ill effects of sudden power outages and decided to find a UPS for the Pi. Click here for a pretty cool solution that relies on a monitored ethernet connection and commodity USB power packs for mobile devices.
