I am interested in A2billing, I see a "install-a2billing" in help-pbx but going thru the forums I noticed a thread by tshif on the same or appears to look like the same issue at http://pbxinaflash.com/community/threads/a2billing-an-adventure-in-pbx-billing-part-1.2925/?t=2925

do they both do the same or something else?

All i want to achieve is this, come up with a solution where each user is given a pincode for long distance, all long distance rates are same for us, we just want a way to track who called which international or long distance number, what time, date and for how long.....

the actual billings will be generated by the pri providers or whoever is handling LD.

any suggestions.....

Hi

I think you can use Pinsets with the record in CDR option to achieve what you need, without the complexities of A2Billing.

Hi

With that many users, A2billing may be an easier solution.

  • Install A2Billing.
  • Create a custom trunk called A2B/1
  • Route the calls via outbound routes to A2B/1 that you want monitored
  • If you do not have to rate them, create a rate table that simply says "defaultprefix" with a rate of 0
  • Create accounts on A2Billing, and use the Card Number as the accountcode in extensions, therefore you can group users and departments together if you want to, if you want this to happen invisibly to the user. If you want them to put in an accountcode, then you can do that instead, just do not fill out the accountcode field, or do a mixture of both.
