Remote extension with latest load

With IP Tables and fail2ban loaded how do I allow a remote phone to connect without having a VPN setup between sites?

Josh, I've been trying to achieve what you are thinking of since quite some days now and my newbie experience with it says that this kind of setup is very unreliable because of two nat firewall routers at both end. To add up is the dynamic IP and the security issues related to opening of ports. So I've given up thought to continue trying this and fiddle around with possibilities of having a VPN tunnel between two sites.

This was not to discourage you, was only sharing my bit of experience and will be glad to hear any success stories that you have out of your experiments.
