So I apparently did something..maybe..and have broken my remote extensions it seems.

Basic current setup:
PIAF on box on home network.
Home network firewall forwards the various ports to the box (but only allows outside access to those ports from the VPS).
VPS is doing pure redirection of the ports to the home network (I'd LIKE it to be an authenticating proxy for more security/easy banning of probes, but I haven't figured that out yet).

So basically Client->Internet->VPS->Home firewall->PIAF box

On my remote extensions (my phone and tablet running csipsimple), I set them to use the VPS as the server - they connect to it and it redirects to the home network.
Everything seems to be working except I get no sound on either of them, whether calling the IVR or calling another extension (or each other).
I see the calls connected as usual in the logs, and see no errors there.

Any suggestions on what to look at first?

This WAS working at one time..but apparently I changed something and broke it. :P

Ok..it's even stranger than I thought. When I got home I rechecked all the rules and flushed the conntrack tables on vps and home firewalls and reconnected and it worked fine.
I just did the same here at work and no audio.
I'll try the church/school network tomorrow and see what happens there.
I would have expected it to NOT work from home..since the connection would be bouncing in and out the same router to/from the vps...

Well, it worked fine at a client's house this afternoon. I haven't tried at the church yet, but it's looking like it's something with the guest connection at work (big surprise there, I've already seen routing issues on that connection...).

At my office, I block outbound traffic on the guest network except for http etc. . . possibly similar.

From my understanding we aren't blocking anything, just running OpenDNS on the guest connection. Although from other behaviors I've seen on that connection (messed up routing etc), it wouldn't surprise me if Comcast is breaking something somehow.
I guess I need to get that VPN working...

Well I was just over at a client's house who is at the same end of town as work, and had the same behavior there. They are also on Comcast (although residential rather than business), so it APPEARS to be something screwy with Comcast on that side of town. I'll verify from the church tomorrow so I'll have another test from Comcast on this side of town (besides my house).

Good Afternoon:

How is your outbound sip trunk set up to handle codecs?

There should be a line in the PEER Details like

allow=ulaw&g729

What does yours show?

You need to make sure whatever is allowed you have the proper codecs installed or no workie

Oh, I never updated this. hah.
It's specifically something with Comcast on that side of town.
When on this side of town on Comcast (or somewhere on something else), it works fine.
It's not an issue now as I've switched to using a VPN connection instead of direct port bouncing (for security and such).

Just checking... I had a similar problem and pulled a few hairs out until I found the cause
