FOOD FOR THOUGHT resolv.conf

I was looking at BulkVS, did you ever get that problem solved wit the delay?
I installed BulkVS PJSIP trunk about 2 weeks ago and I had the same delay when dialing outbound, I thought it is very annoying and I decided not to use it. Then 2 days ago I was poking around my system and I decided to try again an outgoing call through BulkVS. Now there is not delay. I did not change anything on my side. I guess BulkVS did something on their side.

Did you insert a 1 on the trunk dialed number manipulation rules? I believe without, the call will eventually go through but with the "1" in front, it works instantly. This advice assumes you are in North America.

I did not put anything in the trunk manipulations rules. I do have 1 for the outgoing route which is using BulkVS trunk.

That should do it then. Its a weird problem that I have never encountered. I do register my trunk with BulkVS rather than relying on IP authentication.

For me it was a delay problem after i registered the trunk first time. But now is gone. I wonder if there is time needed for BulkVS to update their system with the new account. I use the PJSIP trunk setup registration.

Ok, switched to different provider. still incoming works fine, there is still a delay in outgoing, I have changed phones, so not that either. Will update as I get more info...

Check for overlapping outbound routes. You may have something set that could be either 7 or 10 digits for example. That would cause a delay until timeout if the system is waiting for more digits if the number could be processed by either of two or more routes.

Watch the CLI as you dial an outside number. It should immediately process to an outbound route when you dial. If not, you have something wrong in the routes or in timeout on the phone. Grandstream phones allow for immediately sending digits to the PBX via a built-in dial plan or you can press # or a dial key to immediately send the number to the PBX. See if that is where the delay is. This is a common problem in areas where you are trying to set up for 7-digit and 10-digit dialing instead of 7 digit and 1+10 digit dialing. Explain what your local dialing plan is. What is your area-code and exchange number?

kenn10 - thank you very much, I will check and test that!!!!
any basic tutorials online using CLI

Thanks,

Use putty or whatever you have to ssh into the Vultr instance for your system. Type asterisk -rvvvv to watch what is going on in Asterisk. Do it at a time when the system isn't busy (i.e. late at night or at a slow time) so you can watch what is happening when you dial a number. What city are you setting up this system for? Again, what area code and exchange are you in?

ok, when user dials out and I'm monitoring the CLI, the pause starts and no messages scroll during the delay. Now, I setup a phone at my office to connect to same hosted IPBX as another extension. when i dial out, no delay and the messages in the CLI flow immediately. They have another site that we will try to see if its the same thing.

I'm thinking into as LAN issue now. Will update towards end of week.
Thanks,
Brian

ok, so we have a second site(its a two office business), and everything works fine. So the issue(first site) is either, LAN, router, or ISP issues. At least this narrows it down....
Just an update, thanks for the help!
Brian
