I am using Aastra 57i phones on my system. When I page from a phone that is in the plant where the page speakers are, I get feedback so load that the page can not be heard. Does anyone know of a better phone that would not cause this to happen. The 57i seems so sensitive. Even if I try to muffle it with my hands it does the same thing.

Another option that I thought about was to have an special extension that you record your page, hang up and the the system would replay the recorded page. If someone has an example of this, I would more than welcome it.

The way I page know is that I have an extension of 280 that is maped to an analog zap chanel (FXO port, red card). I just have a speed dial set to *80280. Below is the link to the equipment that I use and it seem to work fine. However, it does not have volumn control and is a little loud.

Please help.

I did have a look and the setting

handset tx gain

in aastra.cfg file is how to change the mic sensitivity

(but I am no 57i expert, can't afford the things..)

do the speakers you are using not have a volume control built in? (OK it may mean climbing some ladders, and be careful not to fall off the ladder if you are startled by the noise / feedback on test calls :wink5:)

However you could be then introducing a different problem where phone users on normal calls will say "the telephone is too quiet when I talk"

TBH I'd suggest (if you are OK with constructing electronics) putting a passive attenuator (only a few resistors from rat shack, nothing too complex) on the audio output of the valcom box if there are definitely no volume controls in the speakers...
