I wonder if we could use this to convert IVR text scripts to wave files? Not trying to put Allison out of work, but for home or SOHO IVR menu options, this quality level might be sufficient.

We're reworking all of the hard-coded FLITE stuff as we speak. The sample was actually the raw .ulaw file from Bluemix that we ran through sox to make a .wav file for SoundCloud:

sox --channels 1 --type raw --rate 8000 -U tts-weather-demo.ulaw tts-weather-demo.wav
