Based on the current state of PiAF as of today, does anyone have any thoughts on which colour to install for a production system on a Rhino Ceros 3U PBX 'appliance'?

The system has 8 each FXO and FXS analogue channels provided by a Rhino R24FXX-EC 24 port PCI card with HW Echo Cancellation module and 4 each Dual FXO and Dual FXS modules.

It also has dual NIC's (for red and green zones) and dual drives for RAID 1 which means I have to do the ksraid install option when setting up PiAF (actually CentOS).

I'm leaning towards Purple, but I'd like to hear what anyone here might have to say about the best choice to go with that HW.

Thanks

Just did a 1U ceros with an 6 FXO 2 FXS card... I was having trouble with Silver crashing on the incoming calls. And Dahdi config was a real pain, Out of frustration I moved to Purple PIAF (non incredible) and it pretty much worked out of the box. I'm sure the FreePBX version had allot to do with it. I tried loading the Dahdi module and that broke my configs. So PIAF purple with the Rhino Drivers added seems to have no problems as of today.

reconwireless,

Thanks for the report. This was the kind of thing I was concerned about.
Rhino support said they usually install whatever the customer requests, but if no request, they go Bronze.
I didn't want to be stuck in the Bronze age so I've been considering Silver or Purple.

I like the idea of using Purple as long as it's stable so that I can put off having to upgrade PiaF releases on this box as long as possible.

Personally, I don't think there are many more bugs in Asterisk 1.8 than there are in 1.6.2 at this juncture. And 1.6 is almost at end-of-life, believe it or not.

Thanks Ward, I appreciate your feedback on this. That's why I wanted to go Purple if it was stable because it should be longer before it's EOL. This is going on a remote site so I'd have to fly in there to upgrade it. I'm hoping this combo will sit and work quietly for a year or two.

Thanks again.
