One customer mentioned this and I have to agree…
With an ordinary phone system…
When a call comes in for all office phones (A queue) all the phones ring in harmony, obviously because it utilises an ordinary phone system, with asterisk / freepbx this is not the case… in an office of 20 or more phones this sounds mad…
is there any way to do this ?
If not maybe it could be a project for someone ?

My Aastra 57i's that are part of a ring group ring at the same time.... dependent on phone I guess

mine are set to ringtone one, the default. I haven't changed it and nothing special in the ring group.

On another ring group I specified a different ring cadence in Freepbx settings.

All have same firmware I assume?

I'm on 2.5.2.30

boot rom 2.4.0.80

Womble1, I think what BrianKelly63 is referring to is the field marked as Alert Info. It is present on Ring Groups and Queues alike and should provide what you are attempting. Heck I'd Like to know myself.

Brian, is this where you set your ring cadence, and if so how do you do it.

Alert info says it can be used for destinctive ring but give no formats or clues as how to utilize it.

Good Luck and I'm watching for this answer too.

We use Alert Info to distinguish between outside calls versus internal calls on our Aastra 57is. We simply add <Bellcore-dr2> to the Alert Info field.

We use <Bellcore-dr3> for our operator ring group so the folks that answer those calls know when someone pressed 0 from the IVR.

If I remember correctly, the format is dependent upon what the phone expects to see for Alert Info. You probably need to look at your phone's administration guide. If you have Aastras of any type, you can certainly try the above and see if it works for you.

yep under Alert Info in the ring group:

<Bellcore-dr3>

including the < & >

so the way I read the <Bellcore=dr3> is that it is dependant on the phone?

I have 1 of the Nortel 1535s and 2 of the DE380 IP Rs from Gigaset offered by 8774e4voip.com so how would I do this as the Alert info is per the Queue or RG. are there any standard variable names and values that all phones would understand?

....

I think this thread has gotten a little off track. Let me try to help break down a little of what has been said:

1. The initial question: How to get all phones to ring in sync.
- I think you will see different results based on different phones, BUT keep in mind that queues and ring groups are different things. With a queue, there is processing by the PBX to find agents and then open the channels to the phones. I would test a ring group vs. queue with your system and see if the results are any different. In many installations we have completed, the Aastra 57i's we install with a ring group tend to ring at about the same time, but even with a small member queue, we see phones ringing at slightly different times.

2. The Alert Info option: This option has nothing to do with timing and is really a technical way of saying ring tone. You are correct that this is completely phone independent, so sending different commands to different phones will vary the results. The Aastra's only offer bellcore ring tones, which is basically a higher or lower ring tone.
