Wow. Completely wrong person and even the preview shows Josh isn't leaving.

Matt Fredrickson is the one leaving on July 1st. Josh has been promoted from Technical Lead to Project Lead of Asterisk while Lorne is now the Project Lead for FreePBX with Kapil in an acting lead in Lorne's old position.

Looks like Josh is the very last person on the payroll (and I think he's a contractor) who knows how Asterisk is put together and knows where all the bodies are buried. And all these guys that are leaving had non-compete clauses so they're all leaving the VoIP community. Wasn't Josh the one tweeting last year about looking for a new job? Not good signs for sure.

Well this isn't exactly 100% true. Yes, Josh is a contractor but no, Josh doesn't know every little thing about Asterisk. While Josh as been part of the project for a very, very long time his early years are like most, not involved in every little piece just the part he was supposed to do. It was also during a time when there were very loose policies or procedures (by loose I mean non-existent in some cases) and a lot of crap got committed to Asterisk in the early days that people have no idea about. Specially when they were things submitted by community members that are no longer active.

I think only Mark Spencer truly knows that. Again, Josh wasn't always in the position he is in now or over recent years.

That's in no way how non-compete clauses work, you should know this. Leaving Sangoma doesn't mean you have to leave VoIP or telephony at all.

Ever heard of negotiation tactics?

I mean, it's a bummer to see Matt go but for the last 4 years or so Matt has been focused on the FreePBX, being PL for Asterisk was more like being the face/talking head for it. As well, Matt's wheelhouse (for Asterisk) was DAHDi and PRI/SS7 so basically TDM network based. I believe there is a now a low ceiling for being a TDM expert and people needing that. I'm not sure what "not good signs" you are seeing...
