Hello all!
I bought a Sangoma USBfxo U100 and have outgoing calls working except for a few echo problems (which are going to supposedly be fixed in a coming software release). I can not get incoming calls to work, though.

You might want to turn off automatic fax detection. I have seen that cause this behavior on incoming Zap channels.

How do I turn it off? Fax detection type is disabled in the inbound routes.

Are you use the 3.6.0.12 drivers? And the A21 firmware? I have one running and it works great. I choose all the defaults and that included the fax question.

Yes, 3.6.0.12. Not sure about the firmware. How do I check that? I just had to hard reboot my system and it killed my wanrouter configuration. :-( :mad5::banghead:
It won't detect the card anymore.
What did you do to install yours?
--
EDIT:
Not my wanrouter configuration but Zaptel.
It will detect the card with wanrouter hwprobe but not in wanrouter status.

I installed the U100. Then downloaded the drivers, unziped them, ran the installer, let the installer configure zap, and bingo. I also updated the firmware. Once done I called one of my numbers and it rang a zap port and piaf answered.

Here is the product specific url http://wiki.sangoma.com/sangoma-wanpipe-usbfxo Go there and there is a link for updating the firmware if you need it.

Their tech support is fair. Just send them an email if you need any support.

I do have the latest firmware and software. I have already emailed Sangoma and they are helping to some degree. I am just going to make a new box with a fresh install and see what happens. I was having some other issues with this box too. I will let you know what happens.

Running the U100 fxo/usb as well. With latest firmware & drivers I too have echo using the default PBIAF v1.5 that Ward used in his Acer Aspire Atom-based nettop PC setup article.

Contacted Sangoma tech support & they had me download the latest firmware which added hardware echo cancellation (nice). However, it simply replaced the echo with a static/walkie-talkie effect ... turns out hardware bug they can't figure out how to code around, so the feature is being dropped ---- Sangoma's official fix was to have me lay down OSLEC instead of the Asterisk default software echo canceller.

Still have audio quality problems (static, volume levels, etc.). Ugh, ugh, ugh.

The bane of my existence at the moment! The Acer R1600 is a slick little unit & runs a 24 extension setup nicely with the U100 other than the audio quality issue I am battling ....

I have the same problem with mine, when i don't use any echo canceler, i have some echo problem, but as soon as i turn on OSLEC, i got some static on the line when talking. It is really anoying. If someone find a fix for that!

I read this a few weeks ago, it may be of interest:
Mini-review of Sangoma U100 USBfxo device

Not a particularly flattering revew of the device.

Lorne

It seems that one of the reasons for the harshness of the review is that the Sangoma USBfxo uses the Zaptel or Dahdi interface instead of acting as a SIP or IAX device. As most users find, the Zaptel and Dahdi interfaces are more complicated and require a higher level of knowledge to configure.

The reason is that Zaptel and Dahdi are hardware interfaces and add the configuration of the physical device interface to the kernel drivers into the mix. Then you configure the Asterisk software interface before you can finally create your extensions and trunks. Asterisk is pretty un-forgiving on any misconfigurations during any of the stages of configuration - zaptel and dahdi will not work and provides little feedback as to why unless you know where to look in the bowels of your server.

SIP and IAX are software interfaces that ride on the already configured Ethernet interface. Just have to create your extensions and trunks and its up.

This is a good example of why telecom is moving from legacy systems and their problems to SIP and IAX

Well, in light of that review, I wanted to say that I have my U100 working great. Calls, occasionally, have some noise on the line like some popping. But it is only happening on occasion. No echo or caller id issues. Caller ID works 95% but that I believe is the fault of Vonage not sending the data in time before Asterisk answers. The 2nd line is a Verizon POTS land line that does not subscribe to caller id. However, I did at one point have another verizon line hooked up to it that did get CLID and it worked great. Granted, setup was not the easiest because I ran into errors, but Sangoma SSHed into my server and fixed it right after an email. I am very happy with my U100.

Yeah, I gave up on mine. It worked OK in a SIP-only context but I couldn't get past the static and noise when using SCCP. £100 down the drain.
