I did my install, but during startup, i see some problems with media. Goes so fast I cant catch it all, but i see repeated ATA1,,, a lot of data, and something about configured for dma/133.

it does end up starting and running, but wondering if I need to reconfigure, / reinstall before going into service.

log into CLI

type dmesg | more and see if the error is there

OH, I might also want to add that, there are several pages of that type of entry over and over in the list.

seen this before. Drop a new drive and and retry the install. While it could be cables or connectors I use stabilant 22a on all my computer gear especially card edges and memory. Works like a charm

That being said 80gb drives are like $29 so drop one in and see if it goes away. If not then replace power/data cables.

Hey Tom (darmock)

Just wanted to give u an update, reinstalled, same problem,,, then i went into cmos and looked around,,, under SATA options, there was a setting to either run it under normal, or compatible mode. it was set to normal. changed it to compatible and reinstalled. fixed the problem,, no more errors.

Regards

Yup there are any number of things that can cause problems. Still doesn't hurt to have a new hard drive under the hood.

Thanks for posting that info. That is a solution that few think about trying..
