Sendmail problem?

I recently moved my PIAF server behind a firewall. Since doing that I am now unable to send email. The following error is reported:

host map: lookup (domain): deferred

Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

sound like your dns is not resolving. Does your firewall block outbound automatically or just inbound....

We are using a managed firewall. I assume it must be blocking everything.

they must have given you a DNS IP to use, no?

otherwise the service (firewall) would be useless!

If it's the lookup and not the sending that's the problem, try putting the e-mail server in your /etc/hosts file. That may get around it.

I find it hard to believe someone is using a managed firewall and can't use any DNS dependent network services behind it?
