I am considering keeping a log of what changes I make to my PIAF box. Anytime I tweak it, I'll pull up the document and make a quick entry. Maybe a quick screenshot of the FreePBX change. Maybe a few lines.

Any suggestions ?

Starting this log right from the installation outset is probably the best idea.

I guess the drawback might be this could be a wee bit time consuming. I think it's probably worth it for newbies. It would also serve as a record of what you did, so you can easily repeat what you have if you make another install (hardware change, whatever change).

I wonder if some experienced installers make logs on their installs to help Refresh their memories on what they did on that install !

I do this. I add the date and time to each thing I do. I also add my backups to this log so I can see what backup set I might need to go to.

Hi

It's fairly standard procedure for sysadmins to keep a server log for that "run over by a bus" moment.

I use the Mantis Bug Tracking software to keep tabs on whats going on with my servers.
