siax for iphone

I haven't used it a lot, but I did enough testing to convince me to purchase it. I use it ONLY with WiFi - I do not have a data plan on my 2G iphone.

I have it setup with:

SIP -> extension on home PIAF
SIP -> DID from ITSP
IAX2 -> extension from office Asterisk setup

All seem to work okay.

At this point, I think this is the best softphone for the iPhone. There are a couple of other choices now, but SIAX supports SIP and IAX, while the others only support SIP.

Looks like a good one, although I'm not sure I want to jailbreak my iPhone to get it. Fring is the only 'official' voip app I know of for the iPhone, but find it to be unusable since it proxies to their servers.

Has anyone tried this product where there is no WiFi...

Love the idea of voip for cells but jailbreaking the iphone can be an issue as you lose warranty and support from Apple. As a point of reference, the siax site says you need to have Cydia Firmware 2.0 or higher to download the application.
