SIP extensions registering at strange ports

I am trying to troubleshoot some call problems, and I noticed that some of the extensions are registering at ports that are not in the 5060-5099 range. I am testing with a Snom 360 as well as X-Lite, and when I register to the PIAF box, the Snom is registering on port 2050, and the X-Lite at random high ports like 49155. Most of our extensions are Linksys 941s, and I see about half at 5060 or 5061, and the rest all over the map: 1027, 1028, 1055, 22844, 49156, 63861, etc. Some of these are coming in over the internet, and our firewall only has ports 5060-5099 and 10000-20000 open. However, my Snom phone on 2050 is working, even though that port is supposedly not open.

Is this normal? If not, how do I fix it? I can't find the settings in my Snom config or X-Lite to specify the port (I do see it in the Linksys config).

Thanks,

Kurt

I'm pretty sure that is just the source port that the client uses. As long as you have NAT set to yes, asterisk doesn't care what the source port is for the SIP session.

I believe that is correct, but if it bothers you, there is a solution. On the Snom phone's configuation webpage, go to Advanced->Sip/Rtp page. Then type 5060 in the Network Identity block. Reboot the phone and you will have the expected behavior.
