softphone, vista 64bit laptop

I have a client that has a remote sales agent that was using a softphone with his laptop. He recently got a new Dell laptop which running is a 64 bit running Vista. I can no longer get good audio quality ( all choppy) with this laptop. We have tried xlite and firefly using both sip and iax.

Any suggestions? Could it be a 64 bit issue?

I am running windows 7 64 bit with xlite and have no issues
