Sounds are very "crackly"

I have a new install, but for some reason the sound come in very crackly.

This is even when listening only to the IVR menu. I tried two different incoming trunks and they are both equally bad.

This is only for calling in, so I do not know how the outbound quality is. I ran update-fixes and restarted the server.

I just tried using it with a DISA, and the announcement of entering your pin is also very staticy. However, once the call is connected, it is decent, not perfect but no as bad as when it is playing a recording.


Any suggestions?

Sounds to me like packet scheduling or QOS issues. What type of connection is being used? And how much latency. That's really the only time I've heard crackly audio quality. Are you using ULAW?
 
Yes to ulaw. There is dsl, but I dont know the current connection. In the past (two weeks ago) it was a perfect connection.


How would I look into packet scheduling issues?
