Here is my setup
We are a movie theater in a small chain and I have setup TrixBox w/IVR to take care of our "Show Line".
We subscribe to a music service called Movie Tunes, that once a month sends us a audio cd that we play pre-show in our theaters. I would like to also use this licensed to us - music souce for my MOH.

But here is the catch - its a single 60 min audio track.
My question is, what would be the best setup after I rip the cd to a mp3 and have it also be used for MOH. But, I dont want it to start at the front with every caller. What I am thinking is making like maybe a private shoutcast on the TB, and have it constantly stream the mp3, and have the MOH pick it up in mid stream whenever its needed.

I looked at shoutcast software and it only came with the server software - nothing to get the mp3 to the server software. Then I found IceCast, its looks promissing - but I guess my question is - is there anything else out there that wont put a great deal of stress on the machine so I start getting choppy IVRs. Its not a laxluster setup that I put together, AMD simperon 3.0+ cpu, 1g ram, 500g hd space etc.
Opinions, suggestions - comments please.....

Thanks
Tony

PS - it would only be a single .mp3 file, and would like to be able to copy the new one over - via samba or ftp and just restart the streamer software instead of the whole server - this would happen once a month when I get the new cd.

The really cheezy way to do this is to put the CD in a cheap CD player and set it to loop play. Then plug the CD player into the phone server's sound card input and follow the instruction elsewhere on this site for Sound Card music on hold.

I actually thought of that after I wrote the previous message, I could easily put a cd-rom in the machine, and then setup something to detect the audio cd and start playing it. As I think the MB has a internal audio connection to go direct to the drive. I will have to look when I get back from my days off. That might be the simplest way to do it - I just have to find some player software that does not require X etc.

Thanks for the suggestion.

ya, but that does not get past my problem of the resulting ripped mp3 file being 60 min long and the files mode of MOH always starts from the beginning of the file.

I could prob split the file apart, but the flow of it would be interrupted as there are commercials for gift cards, concessions etc between the musical sections.

Hence, the reason for a continuous stream even tho nobody is listening - so when MOH is requested - it just picks up playback at where ever it is in the audio stream.

Ok, i see what you mean by the ext mp3 player, that would work as well with line input and prob less wear and tear running 24/7 on it than a cd-rom. I just need to find one that will repeat the mp3 file(s).
