We are having trouble recording system messages for our IVR. When we record from an extesion (either SNOM or Polycom) then playback the message words are missing and the recording is jerky. We have had someone recording for over 2 hours constantly to try to get one recording that isn't jerky or missing words without luck.

Are we missing something or is there something that needs to be done to get it to record correctly?

It sounds as if something is going wrong somewhere - Network, processor maybe - do you get problems elsewhere on the system, are there problems with voicemails?

You can record via a microphone via a PC, then upload the file via the FreePBX system recordings module. You can use something like Wavepad from NCH to convert the files to appropriate encoding.

This may not be your problem, but I was :banghead: myself for a long while a couple years ago with choppy sound. It was an IRQ conflict. I had to go into the bios and disable everything I could find. The at the console prompt type:

cat /proc/interrupts

to make sure my tdm400 card was by itself.
May not be your problem, of course.
 
Getting frustrating

There do seem to be any IRQ conflicts. This is the output of cat /proc/stat

We are now having issues with choppy sound. I think I will rebuild the machine again and hope.
 
Results from zztool

We did get some crappy results from zttest

Best: 100.000 -- Worst: 3.332 -- Average: 83.564309, Difference: 83.564420

I am not sure what is producing such a large disparity in quality. We have a very complicated network and the PiaF is on pretty crappy hardware 1.6ghz sempron, 1GB RAM. Maybe this has something to do with it. We are using SNOM 370 phones so it shouldn't be them.

Back to the drawing board.......:banghead:
 
Have you still got that clone card in.

I wonder if this and the other problem you are experiencing is related.

Clone Card

I have got someone to order a whole heap of the Digium cards and get us a new computer to test on. Maybe this will fix it.
