I am thinking about setting up a piaf installation for our office.

I am considering using a T1 because the upload speed is too slow on DSL and cable in this area is almost the same price as the T1.

The T1 I am considering purchasing terminates in a router which you can connect to with cat 5 cable, to your computers etc.

Can I connect my pbx box directly with cat 5 cable to the T1 router and expect it to work, if configured correctly, or am I going to need a Sangoma or zapatel card?

I have tried to figure this out from the forum, but am still unclear. It seems to me if the router is there and I can connect to it with a Cat 5 I should be good to go, but I am not sure.

Thanks for your help

Ryan

Well, it depends. If you are going to set up with a VOIP provider like Foncordiax or Aretta, then no. If you are buying a T-1 with telephone trunks, then you will need to chat with the provider and see how they split it out at your location. The CPE equipment installed at your office will have an ethernet port on it for your local network and either have a T-1 port for the phone trunks or several POTS lines.
