Caller ID is not working in most places at the minute from BT networks.

Self Help is always the best way lol

(I lost the settings!)

Seems that callerid's back on again !

BT seem to regularly hose up incoming caller ID from VOIP networks until enough of them scream and then it starts working again. I've seen exactly the same thing happen on a totally different IAX2 provider today..

Yes Im In total agreement and have spoke to some of the helpful staff at tesco's, and they say they are working on the problem in some area's of the uk, but i bet by the time the works done, Bt will change something to break it again, to think we invented the telephone !!

its not just Tescos, it is linked to a wider problem of BT in different areas disagreeing on what is acceptable incoming Caller ID from VOIP providers.

On some occasions If BT doesn't like what it is being sent from another provider, it simply presents INTERNATIONAL to the person being called on their CLID display (same with all foreign calls).

This is a nuisance on two fronts, it means that when I do get genuine foreign calls from relatives in Malaysia or such calls arrive at my work it is impossible to distinguish between them or sales calls from foreign call centres.

Secondly it means its harder for me to use outbound VOIP trunks at work as our clients are elderly and will often hang up on a INTERNATIONAL caller id unless they have relatives overseas (which not all do).

OTOH Mobile companies seem to simply accept the incoming CLID without trashing it whether its domestic or foreign, as do many EU nations (I recently telephoned some Dutch suppliers on a VOIP trunk and they knew immediately to answer in English - sadly my Dutch is not very good yet, but they had seen the 0044 on the front of my number!

I've just tried all my various VOIP trunks (both SIP and IAX2) from my home system and they are all presenting correct CLID whereas last week they were showing INTERNATIONAL or WITHHELD. How long this happy state of affairs will last I do not know. :rolleyes5:

yes i've been down some of those roads too, and had to walk home also.
It's very disapointing really, i use pure sip/iax now but my providers still come across this.
I see, gradwell have a good hold on this so i have a inbound iax trunk from them, but they rape me on outbound calls,
So i route call another way, this in turn causes problems for me with cid.
when i route the outbound call on another network, who then in turn pass on another cid it gets very messy.

A 1ppm telco would make a killing here, if they had caller id sorted !
