I am consistently getting an error when trying the install. My install CD pops out and says it cannot find the CentOS CD. I am trying to install on HP2133 (VIA Chipset), on which I believe I installed prior versions for testing. Maybe I am getting senile, but has anyone else seen this problem

Sounds like CentOS 5.5 doesn't recognize the CD drive. Try an external drive from HP or Sony.

Ward, thanks for your reply. The CentOS initial portions load presumably in RAM, the failure occurs after drive access attempts (I hear the drive searching) that occur after country selection. I never get to keyboard selection. Its and LG external drive that I use frequently for Linux loads. I will try another one and let you know what happens

Just tried another drive and the same thing happens. I will make a native CentOS CD and try

I made a CD with CentOS 5.5 and using both the two external USB CD drives that failed with the PIAF image, CentOS installed flawlessly. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a bad burn of the ISO then. Either that or the ISO is corrupted. Does the MD5SUM match? If so, then the CD burn is the problem. If not, then the corrupted ISO is the problem.

Sorry to be late in reporting that when I changed Media source (different batch of CD blanks) the problem resolved. Many thanks for your suggestions.
