This is to announce the release of our update-source16 script which will take a PBX in a Flash system (1.1 ONLY!) and install all of the latest Digium Asterisk 1.6 source. Please note ZAPTEL is still 1.4 but that does not seem to be a problem.

NO SUPPORT WILL BE GIVEN FOR THIS! The only support offered is

"IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS AFTER RUNNING THIS PROGRAM YOU NEED TO REINSTALL PBX IN A FLASH" :mad5:

Also

THIS PROGRAM SHOULD NOT BE RUN BY PEOPLE NEW TO LINUX :banghead:

Cruel yes however if I supported this it would take away from developing projects for PIAF such as the fax (Almost done!)

There are several requirements to do this and they are outlined on the webpage. That being said the primary problem people have had with all of the scripts is they DO NOT FOLLOW the directions EXPLICITLY. Then they whine that the script doesn't work etc...... sigh sorry been a little frustrated as of late

:beatdeadhorse5:

Known issues

There are a few
  • Currently flite (dialogpalette) does not compile correctly thus no flite apps are available yet
  • ooh323 still does not work and you have to deselect it
  • chan_mobile is install but not configured
  • spandsp is installed but not configured.
Also I have not tested any of the ancillary scripts on this version so you are on your own.......

I DO HOWEVER appreciate reports what works and what doesn't however I won't be fixing any problems for a while.

Asterisk 1.6 beta2 just released problems with install

Well Digium released Asterisk 1.6beta2 today and of course they have not updated the redirect we use to always download the latest source!!!!! They do this on a regular basis so Don't install the 1.6 for a couple of days until they get off their butt and actually fix stuff that all the developers depend on... Usually it comes back in a few days.

Patch to run update-source16 now available

Hi Folks

Well Digium seems to be ignoring the developer community... big surprise there. I have patched the update-source16.x program so, optionally, it uses an external configuration file to be located in /usr/local/sbin This file contains the source version numbers of the various Digium packages. I have modified the asterisk-1.6-current to asterisk-1.6.0-beta2 so you should have no problems downloading and installing asterisk 1.6

There are complete directions contained within the source16.conf file and I recommend you look thru them. Once digium has repaired the asterisk-1.6-current link ON THEIR WEBSITE you can simply delete the /usr/local/sbin/source16.conf and update-source16.x will go back to using the defaults. Also there are some new directions on pbxinaflash.org

Sorry there is no easier way and I have had a lot of people whining about this.... BTW we don't host any of the digium or freepbx source AT ALL. I appreciate hearing when there are problems however we are not resonsible for problems on other websites that we do not have direct control over. :mad5:

Also with beta 2 of asterisk if you try to compile flite it causes a segmentation fault thus for the moment I do not recommend you install this when asked.

I have only tested this in a vmware enviroment as I have a bunch of paying jobs on my plate at the moment so be warned

Hi All

Asterisk 1.6 beta 3 released. Digium actually updated the developer updated methodology so for today you don't need to use the /usr/local/sbin/source16.conf file anymore and it should be moved to the root folder

Still installing it on another machine

Also zaptel has been updated for the 1.4 and 1.6 streams
