Don't know if anyone else has received the email yet from Cepstral about upgrading the Allison-8kHz voice or not.

I figured I'd upgrade it, since I do use the Allison voice for my home PBX system, but when I went to upgrade it, I noticed that the terms have changed regarding the use of Allison on Linux boxes...

From the web site:
Compatibility and Purchase

Please note that Cepstral Personal voices for Linux are not for use in phone systems. If you are looking to use Cepstral voice in a phone system, please check out our telephony line of products.
Cepstral Personal Linux products are no longer available for purchase from our online store. If you are interested in using Cepstral voices on your Linux desktop system, please contact us by phone or open a support ticket.

So I thought, OK, I'll purchase the telephony license. Turns out the new pricing model is a little too steep for me... For a 1 concurrent port license which allows me the ability to direct the audio output to a file (which is what I have now with my $40 version 5.x license), I now have to spend $340 ($40 for the license to use the voice + $100 for the 1 concurrent port license fee + $200 for the "save to a file" ability).

Don't think I'll be buying an upgrade any time soon...

Ouch !!! That sounds very steep. I guess its a good thing for those of us that already bought our license. But doesn't google now have a free product now I think Googletts or something. And if its free (and license permitting), shouldn't it be included with the PIAF distro instead of igor?

You may not need the $100 concurrent port license. We use Cepstral for Ward's Teleyapper system and it was $240 for the licenses ($40 for the voice and $200 for the save to file functionality). Yes, it is steep, but we've gotten a fair amount of use out of it.
