Upgrading to new box

Current system is running fine on the old box save for two things:

1) My TDM400P seems to go wonky once in a while - distorted analog calls or the echo cancel quits. (power recycle always fixes)

2) FreePBX main status screen no long updates real time (happened 1 yr ago after an update or module add)

I did not want to potentially cause my production box to "kak" so tried to rebuild the whole thing on a new server using MondoBackup with the notion I could try the FreePBX 2.6 update on the new box.

MondoRestore did not work. Something to do with LVM's.

I then installed the Backup and Restore module in FreePBX, moved the bckup file to USB stick and then did a new install of PIAF on the new box, installed all the same add-on modules, then did a restore using the backup from the s tick.

Server came up and was able to make calls.

Ok, so now I read about a new release of "the incredible PBX" and have no idea if the recent install I did is that. I don't think so but how would you tell? It just goes out and gets a payload file. The new install came back as Centos 5.5, FreePBX 2.5 and Asterisk 1.4 - that does not seem to jive with the latest which sports FreePBX 2.6 - what is up here???

Bottom line - any comments regarding my broken items? Why does Mondo fail?
How do I get the latest and stable greatest? (I thought I did, but clearly its not, why is that - old link?)

If I use the settings backup and restore from the old and restore to the new, is that going to work properly?

Comments and/guidance appreciated.

John

Using Mondo will replicate any config problems you had on your old system to the new box. I'd recommend a clean install of PIAF 1.7.5.5 and decide if you want Asterisk 1.4 or 1.6.

Just upgrade your FreePBX to whatever version you're comfortable with and reenter your systems data manually. I've done backups and moves from release to release and have often found that I bring corrupted config files or artifacts of old files that aren't needed.

Its best to just do a clean install from time to time and reenter your data from scratch. FreePBX is up to 2.8 now and Asterisk is very stable on 1.6.2.x.

You need to decide whether to mess around trying to backup and restore or just start fresh.
