Good question
We have been looking at cleaving the 1.4 builds to something like
GOLD STANDARD
Asterisk 1.4 - Zaptel compliant
Silver Standard
Asterisk 1.4 - Dahdi compliant
Bronze Standard
Asterisk 1.6 - Dadhi compliant
While I am not a marketing hack I think the intent is clear. The standard we recommend you use will be the asterisk/zaptel standard. This one "just works!" (c) which is how we like it. The others are problematic......
While dahdi seems to be coming along we have our own thoughts on it. :beta1b:
While we really don't want to maintain 3 flavors it really is the human thing to do....... (now where did that phrase come from?)
1.5 final should have something like this in the downloader so you will simply choose what you want.
As for update-source it should work however ensure that the source14.conf file points to the latest builds of things as opposed to using the dahdi-current flag. Seems digium does not maintain this well
and it is frequently broken so hard coding the versions is the only way at times.
We have looked at keeping a set of current versions on our site etc etc but that will have to wait for sushi (yes that has not died!)
Thus update-source
1. Should work
2. manually edit source14.conf and point to latest stuff
3. really it should work
4. make a daily and whole disk backup just in case.
5. Seriously it should work fine
