I am using a Raspberry Pi 2 for Incredible PBX which is very cool and very fun for me. Especially since I had one laying around. I also remember reading one of Ward's blogs about the Intel NUC DN2820FYKH with Intel Celeron N2820 using a 4gb memory stick and a 120 gb ssd which I think is a very cool idea especially when it is in total just a little over a hundred bucks more than the Pi and 50 times the power

What I was wondering, if that is the case, why not just use any cheap or used laptop that may cost around $150.00 and definitely under 200 bucks? The way I see it, if you go that route you also have a monitor, keyboard/mouse and a battery all in one.

I love the laptop idea, because of the built in ups. :-). However, I have had trouble using them in situations like this. Some laptops automatically go into sleep mode when you close the screen. Also, driver support for some of the network cards is a bit sparse.

Sure, but sleep mode can easily be disabled. As far as driver support I think that is an issue that can easily be dealt with.

I bought a netbook once for exactly that purpose. Worked great for as long as I used it...

I've been using a Core2 Lenovo laptop for an Asterisk server for one client for a while. It works great, I just set the BIOS to auto power up at 2AM every morning, and to not go to sleep when AC is plugged in.

To mount it on the wall, I used a 1x1 and a 4 inch wide piece of 1/8 plywood screwed to the wall. That holds it securely to the wall, while allowing it to be removed if I need to get to the machine physically. Having it on the wall means that no one can stack stuff on top of it, and it gets plenty of ventilation.

I guess my question is since there are no real limitations with a Laptop as there may be with a Raspberry Pi 2 (even though I love the Pi) which flavor of Incredible PBX would be best with a Laptop. Black Friday is just around the corner and we will see some great deals coming up. As it is I have seen laptops around $150.00 that are quite nice.

Just find something that is happy with Linux in general. Mr Google should be able to help with that.
