Hi,

This may be a FreePBX question but since I have PiaF, thought I would start here. I have a fairly recent install:

PiaF 1.7.5.6 Purple
FreePBX 2.8.1.4
Asterisk 1.8.5.0

I've come to realize that my vm_general.inc file doesn't do anything. Examples:
  • "pbxskip=yes" but I still see [PBX] in the voicemail subject line.
  • "fromstring=Voicemail System" but the From is "Asterisk PBX".
  • "minsecs=3" but I still get zero-length messages.
  • "format=wav49|wav" but it's also saving .gsm files as specified in voicemail.conf ("format=wav49|gsm|wav").
There is a note at the top of voicemail.conf that it does not work with the "#include <file>" directive.

Is there something I need to do to "activate" vm_general.inc? Where is it supposed to be included from?

Do you have the FreePBX Voicemail Admin module installed? If so, those settings may supersede the *.conf files.
Yes, apparently it was installed by default though I'd never noticed it before. I see a change that I made manually to voicemail.conf (not vm_general.inc) reflected in the Voicemail Admin GUI.

So I'm not supposed to use vm_general.inc? Wonder why it is there...
