The other day I got an HP Ipaq HX2795b which has WM-5 I was able to get two different soft phones to work on it just fine and I thought that would be the hard part.

The trouble I am having is being able to retrieve my voice mail attachments the get attached to the email and are the correct size but the fale name changes for some odd reason.

It seems to have something to do with the way the msg is formated I say this because if I save the attachment on my regular PC and then email it with outlook I can get it and play the attachment just fine on the PDA.

has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas?

thanks
Jim

I had the same problem with my Mogul (WM6) device. Every time I click on the attachment, WM6 told me I had to download it to play it. When I did download it, WM6 said it was not a playable file type. Eventually I reloaded the firmware on my phone, and everything works fine.

If I remember correctly,

by default PIAF saves the voicemails as WAVs

whilst WAVS play fine on a PC I <<think>> (but its late here!) natively only MP3 and WMA files are supported, until you install a suitable WAV player which makes the file associations in the registry.

It's not a problem with the WAV file

here is the odd thing
when the file is sent to my PDA from the asterisk box the attachment is not even a WAV file it's named (Voivemail sounds attachment.) and it is the correct size.
now this is even odder if if forward the same email from my PC back to the same account and then receive it back to the PDA the attachment is named correctly and the attachment plays correctly.

and this happens on both WM5 and WM6

I guess a work around is just setup a rule to forward the emails from voice mail back to the same account or to another account just for the PDA which I way do anyway since I really do not want all my mail going to the PDA anyway.

Another odd thing is that the emails that are gotten thru the outlook sync also work correctly.

I just though that someone else may have run into this at some time in the past and had a solution.

At the current time I am running Cent PBX which I thought would be a winner but it seems to have died. I have downloaded PIAF but and not yet installed it do to my lack of time and also I would sort of like to see if it remains active.

Thanks
Jim

So you are saying that you can play the attachment on your Outlook but not from any WM5 or 6 device? Do you have a security policy setup on your Exchange/Activesync to restrict certain attachment types?

when I get them thru sync they work fine but when I get them thru POP3 directly from asterisk it does not work
but if I forward they same email from outlook 2003 it works fine

seems odd to me
