Hi I am having a problem with voicemail login. Actually freepbx is not creating the default folder in directory /var/...../voicemail/. It only creates the device directory. Here is what I posted in freepbx forum and wondering if anyone here has a solution:

I create an extension. Extension is created with 201@default
My voicemail.conf file looks fine
But when I go into var/spool/asterisk/voicemail I only see the 'device' folder and I see the extensions in there with links (invalid though since the link does not exist) which is supposed to be a link to the same user in the default folder. The default folder is missing. I created a default folder and changed the owner and group to asterisk. I then tried to create a new user and it does not seem to populate the extension users in the default folder.

Anyone seen this? or have any idea how to fix it?

I am seeing this same issue in both Freepbx 2.5.1.2 and 2.5.2.2. Upto a point 2.5.1.2 worked great and stopped working at some point as when I tried to simulate the same thing today on it I just found out it stopped working because it has both the folders but a new extension is not created in the default folder. I am running the same Voicemail Module 2.5.1.6 on both freepbx versions. So I am guessing it is a problem with 2.5.1.6 as I am sure I must have upgraded the module on my older Freepbx 2.5.1.2

I am running PIAF 1.4 64bit

Thanks,

Kim

did you try running update-fixes to fix any folder permissions - sounds like freepbx can't make the dir because it don't have the correct permissions is all i can think of.

Amportal Command

From the Linux shell, there is an amportal command that sets permissions correctly. I had the same problem when I did the upgrade. I don't have access to my system from where I am right now so I can't find the actual command.

You might try something like "amportal ?" to get it to give you the choices, if I recall correctly.

Hi Kenn10, I checked the etc/amportal.conf for permissions. It is currently set to 0644
Looking at an old trixbox system, I found that the permission is set to 0755

So the box that I upgraded to freepbx2.6 I changed the amportal.conf to 0755. It still does not work. I checked the voicemail folder permission and it is set to 0755. Did you use 'amportal chown' command?

It seems like a PIAF 1.4 64Bit version issue. I have managed to make all 3 PIAF working with voicemail.

I have two test machines:
1. a freepbx 2.5.0.0
2. a freepbx 2.5.1.2 then upgraded to 2.6RC
Both of above are PIAF1.4 X86 32Bit version
Then I was trying the PIAF1.4 x86 64Bit version for a production system. It had Freepbx 2.5.2.2. This system also have the Linux Raid which I do not believe is causing the problem. I then upgraded to Freepbx 2.6RC but the problem still exists. I was able to delete the voicemail directory from /var/spoo/.../asterisk and recreated with proper permission. Then with the adding of new extensions I was able to see that both device and default folder pupulated with the extensions. I also recreated the voicemail.conf file. I was able to connect to the voicemail system but could not leave any message (Silence after leaving msg) or getting login incorrect when trying to access it then after reentering password it goes silent.

Since all the differnt freepbx versions seem to work with other systems, it is pointing to the 64bit of PIAF. I believe something somewhere is not setting the permission properly.

At one point I though

Voicemail permission issue with 64bit version

I finally reinstalled with 32bit version and the problem went away. There could be a bug with the 64bit version. For now I will stay away from 64bit version. Anyone else knows of any issues with the 64bith version?
