Hi All

Despite the naysayers we have managed to get PBX in a Flash Purple out the door so the incredible pbx 1.8 could also be released. Here is a short list of the features

1. Asterisk 1.8 is now fully implemented

2. Asterisk-addons has been removed for 1.8. This was after a bunch of testing to ensure it worked as stated. The beta used the addons package which worked well

3. Most of the extra codecs have been added as part of the base install. Includes speex, resample, & iksemel. Unfortunately there seems to be some problems with iLbc which we are working through

4. The spandsp has been included as part of the installation

5. Update-programs/update-fixes are now run as part of the base install. Thanks to the many who suggested this would be a good thing

6. All of the standard freepbx modules are now preinstalled. We have a few extras module that we are thinking of placing in the install

7. Full implementation of the PIAF registry to allow for finer control during updates <documentation to follow no idea when>

8. Easy display of what is in the registry by typing show-registry. You can also print this to a file and provide it when you want support in our forums.

9. Proper menu that will replace help-pbx. Simply type pbx-menu at the prompt and then choose the extras you want to install

10. Update-source has been rewritten to fully support Asterisk 1.8

Points 5 - 9 are also included in the other colors of PIAF. Points 1-4 only apply to PIAF-Purple

That is all for the moment.

I have just finished a new release of purple with the following additions

1. Better support for The Incredible PBX. Most of the libraries used by both systems have been streamlined.

2. ooh323 is now compiled during install.

3. res_mp3 is now compiled during install fixed an error in how the mp3 source was being created

4. iLbc now is installed as default. Fixed and error in how the iLbc source was being created

5. Some general cleanup of the code and the addition of the full display of the yum output on the console <with painfully detailed logging enabled> this is because some newbs complained their system had frozen when it had not! Hopefully this provides better feedback until we can port the install over to the new GUI.

We have also been toying with providing a means to automatically install siren7/siren14 using a standalone program. Not sure when it will be done

Regards

Tom
