Hi All

I'm still working on getting my small pbx up and running, some challenges have been conquered others have appeared, but it's getting there.
I just noticed some old version of incredible made for pve, and it so happens that I have a NUC running pve 6.x here, so it would be logical to use that for this job as well.
But is there something available for LXC on PVE or is it VM instead, or what's the plan?

I use Proxmox 6.0 myself. In the past if you used LXC for IncrediblePBX install it did not work correctly.
Now it does but if you plan to install fax then probably wont work (I tried). The best route is to use VM instead and you get everything installed correctly.
That old PVE image is not recommended because it is for a very old version of PBX which is no longer supported
I recommend to start with a minimal Centos7 install, make sure you enable the Ethernet interface when you install Centos7 and if you desire set up the static IP. Then follow Ward instructions on how to install IncrediblePBX2020 on Centos7 by using SSH and not the PVE console. IncrediblePBX2020 is a stable version and very well supported in this forum.

I can't speak on behalf of the project as I am not a developer, but as a longtime user I can tell you that running it on proxmox as a VM is very, very simple and really doesn't require a special version. If you already have it bare metal (I understand you do), just image copy its hard disk drive, upload it to pve, create a new VM configuration without storage, and assign the raw disk image that you've uploaded as its storage. At first boot up the OS will adjust itself and you will be on your way in no time. You may have to adjust manually the network device label depending what version of the PBX you are starting from. That's no issue. If you are not comfortable with the terminal, just do it from within webmin.

As for the LXC configuration, I am currently running an old version in a container. It was my pet project a few weeks back to come up with some metrics comparing the performance of the container version vs full VM. That takes a bit more time, but all things considered the slight benefit it offers is probably not worth the effort. Unless you are running a sizable organization with lots of simultaneous calls, messages being left and retrieved at the same time you won't see much of a difference between a containerized PBX or its fully virtualized version under Proxmox.
