RECOMMENDATIONS Xen Community Edition

Have not heard about using Virtual XenServer with telephony apps; any relevant experience? Was thinking about loading it atop a Ubuntu dist, with 8 Gb ram, quad w3565 Xeon processor For IncrediblePBX for virtual instances.

What may also be worth a look is a headless VirtualBox - https://www.virtualbox.org/ - coupled with this project - http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpvirtualbox/ - for the management GUI.

Instructions for the headless part here - https://www.howtoforge.com/vboxhead...box-4.3-on-a-headless-ubuntu-14.04-lts-server - and the PHPVirtualBox is simple enough.

With this interface, it works much the same as the desktop version, but you can install it on a dedicated server and manage it via a web interface.

I've moved to this in preference to Proxmox for testing and development.

I've done a lot of work in Xenserver. make sure you run in paraviruttalized mode.

You can pass through PCI devices but it's tricky. Other than that you should be OK .
