i am sure a lot of people have heard of youmail... I got to thinking a lot this weekend with talking with a friend of mine. youmail seems as though it is based on Asterisk. so I got to thinking why not create something similar to it. competition is always good right?
but what I am confused on is if you were to call a person who has youmail setup. that is a conditional forward. something done from the carrier side. easy to do. however youmail also somehow gets the calling parties caller id as well to also help play a custom recording for certain caller ID's if wanted.
so how if anyone knows is that being done. or how is it possibly being done?
I guess I have had a little to much time this weekend to think about all of the great things PBX In A Flash can or could do and was thinking about doing something like this.
any ideas and or suggestions would be great.
