That was exactly what @Eliad tried to advise you. It was already made clear that Proxmox is not supported by IncrediblePBX due to quirks in Proxmox.

As far as the VM should know though, it's just hardware. I had run the older Debian install script on 10.7 and Proxmox it worked fine.

Just to be clear, the Incredible PBX 2021 install script for Debian is 100%-compatible with Debian 10.7 AND Debian 10.8. The problem installing on Proxmox is not an Incredible PBX deficiency. More likely than not, it's an issue with a corrupted repo on the Proxmox side. The install log in /root will tell you what has come unglued and might provide a hint on what repository or repositories are failing.

I was doing it as a VM on Proxmox and didn't use a single Proxmox repo, so I'm not sure what could have caused it in my case.

The latest Debian install script does not work on Proxmox. If you use prior version (i tried one downloaded Jan 2) works on Debian 10.8 install in a Proxmox VM. I just did that. Trying to install using the latest script fails. This is what i found by doing several permutations trying installing this. I did these because I was quite puzzled, it used to install fine on Proxmox and then suddenly didn't. Today it occurred to me to try an older version install script.
Ubuntu scripts works with no problem at all.

this is way beyond my skills but i will try to look at the failed installed log and at the successful install log, see what is different.
Going forward since Centos is dead, is Debian a better bet for long term or is Ubuntu?

Ubuntu seems to be a better bet but I wonder what @wardmundy prefers for the long term support. He is the master, this is completely out of my league.

this has been a standard warning for a very long time and can be ignored. When doing the install on my system I noted at one point there is something about an untar failed, maybe that is the issue. I did not have time to look into my logs. As you know they are very long and this PBX stuff is my hobby supporting the phones for my office and a friend office. Very small fish

Perfect. Then I stick with Ubuntu in Proxmox since this install works well. I will try to figure out the log in failed Debian when I have a chance.

Yes, it did.

The wget command is usually very good with retrieving files. But when the install failed for me most of the time it was giving up on the 450 MB archive.

One could download that big file ahead of time and place it in /backup and then you can comment out line 366 in the install script. That's how I worked around it.

Finished migrating all my data (mostly manually) from my old, loyal, beloved CentOS 6.8 IncrediblePBX 13.13.1 installation and everything is working super perfect as usual. Ward and stuff I can never thank you enough for all your great work

can you clarify a bit more more what do you mean by setting up the repositories correctly? You are talking about the proxmox itself or the debian iso install? Which repositories should be used?

I looked at both Debian logs, the successful and the failed one, I cant figure out the error except on the failed one, userman module is reported as failed toward very end of the log.
Now, next step is to look at the difference between Debian older install script (early Jan 2021) versus the most current install script. I think I should look at those because the older installer works fine. This is way above my current level of knowledge, hopefully i will learn something.
