Another DTMF issue

OK I read through the threads that the search returned for DTMF issues. I tried the different fixes, even the ones that didn't make sense but no luck.

OK here is my issue...

I have a PiaF system, 2 IAX2 trunks, FXO card (on vonage), GXP 2000's and GXP2020.

When I call a clients * system and get to the IVR I can not dial direct to an extension from either model phone on any of the 3 trunks. If I try from my cell I can!

OK... so I was thinking it must be on my end -

Then I called my cell phone VM and the tones prompt fine... Then I tried Digium support # and the prompts work fine for me on their system.

So now I am thinking it is on my clients end. So my client tried from a 2000 and a 2020 from a DIFFERENT * system at another location and he was able to get past the IVR right off.

So now I am not sure if it is on my end or the receiving end.

Anyone have any ideas?

I did have a similar issue with my client calling another companies IVR or Auto Attendant and their system not recognizing the DTMF I was sending.
After making sure that DTMF=RFC2833 in the trunk section, I did upgrade all the GXP 2000 and 2020 and have not had a problem since (knock on wood). Now I will probably get a call tomorrow! :lol:
Since you are using those phones also, PLEASE UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE! I have found that they do not ship with the latest version installed.

I've been caught in the past with this one to. As mentioned by foneman, check the DTMF signalling.

I think that GXP2000's are shipped with the DTMF set to inband while freePBX defaults to RFC2833. Although it is strange that you can access VM. For safety, make sure they are the same.

Thanks for the suggestions... I am running the 1.1.5.15 Firmware.

I do have the phones "Send DTMF" to RTP (RFC2833).

Interesting is there are a lot of references to the trunk and DTMF. I have VoicePulse and VoipStreet and neither trunk set a DTMF. But when I was trying things from the other threads I tried adding that and it did not make any difference.


I have checked the dtmfmode in SIP setup and that is set to rfc2833.

I wonder if it is worth mentioning the IVR it is not working on is a TrixBox build (but that works for others and my cell).

Any other ideas?

Am I missing something or when you all talk about Trunk you mean the outbound settings for VP, VStreet , ZAP etc???
