We're just a few days away from AstriCon 10, and I wanted to give everyone a progress report on Tom's new masterpiece. Black Magic with Asterisk 12 is not quite ready for prime time, but we're damn close. I'll have it running on a MacBook Air during AstriCon if you'd like to kick the tires. SIP and IAX extensions work. PJSIP works. Trunks work. IVRs work. Google Voice works. Flite works. GoogleTTS works. Conference bridge works. Most Incredible PBX apps work including News, Weather, Stocks, Time of Day, Reminders, Wolfram Alpha, and Lenny to name a few. If you'd like to try it out, I've set up the Nerd Vittles demo IVR temporarily. Please take it for a spin.
UPDATE: We'll be running the IVR demo "LIVE" during our trip to Atlanta on Sunday. Call in and let us know how well Verizon is doing.
What doesn't yet work is FreePBX. That's primarily because of their earlier commitments to get other things ready for AstriCon (that actually pay the bills). So the question is whether you believe it is worth Tom's time to spin up a build or a virtual machine without FreePBX but with the Nerd Vittles sample apps, a default extension, and a default setup for one Google Voice trunk so that you could experiment on your own. You might actually learn a little Asterisk dialplan magic just like in the old days.
What we've done is include huge chunks of the FreePBX 2.11 dialplan code so that we could quickly get features working, but there is no amportal and no GUI! Please post a reply below with any thoughts, comments, suggestions and whether you have any interest in a preview release. Thanks.
