I have rec'd several dozen calls on my hosted PiaF system since bringing it up late Nov.

In the calling reports from FreePBX, the source is listed as Asterisk, the Caller ID as "asterisk" <asterisk>, destination is 's', Disposition is 'Answered', and the duration is usually 13 seconds.

The source IP address appear to be mainly from Asia.

I have 4 DIDs all pointing to extensions on the system. Allow Anonymous Inbound SIP Calls is set to no.

I believe there was a similar post in the past on the best way to block such calls but I can't find it. I believe the approach was to set a default route (that doesn't match valid DIDs) to "hang-up".

Any suggestions?

If you have the "Asterisk SIP Settings" module installed, under "Advanced General Settings" there is an option labeled "Allow SIP Guests". Set it to "No".

You'll stop seeing those attempts, but you won't be able to receive any guest calls, either.

Optionally, you can set allowguest=no in sip_general_custom.conf if you're not using the above module.

From the module's help info:
"Asterisk: allowguest. When set Asterisk will allow Guest SIP calls and send them to the Default SIP context. Turning this off will keep anonymous SIP calls from entering the system. However, the Allow Anonymous SIP calls from the General Settings section will not function. Allowing guest calls but rejecting the Anonymous SIP calls in the General Section will enable you to see the call attempts and debug incoming calls that may be mis-configured and appearing as guests."

I've seen more than one post recommending the default DID route => hangup.
