Thanks, was just getting ready to try visible on my Teracube 2
Going to put my google fi extra data sim in it for clearly anywhere

Here is the Odin patch thread.

I have a couple 4G phones that were branded by AT&T but they have been totally unlocked and they work without problem. I've heard of others that claim their phones were unlocked and not working but the phones were not actually unlocked. Have you used the link posted in Nerdvittles article to check if the phones are compatible?.

The problem is it seems the site will only allow you to sign up once you have entered a valid IMEI for them, or purchase a telephone from their site. I have tried four GSM phone's IMEI and all were rejected.

or purchase a telephone from their site.
They will give you a decent phone for free when you sign up and send them a phone that does not work....but you have to port in a number.

The word on the street if you believe your phone actually is compatible - just select iphone during the compatibility check and order your sim. I've not tried it yet, but android users did report success. It's a small monetary risk methinks.

Yeah, I see there is a catch with that, though. " and transfer your current phone number when you set up and activate your new phone. ." I would rather get a new number. I do have an old Windows Lumia smart phone where the screen does not power on to send them.

When I select my S9+ for swap, the only phone option is some zte blade. One choice, that's it.
And their stated rules are the phone I mail into them must be working condition.

Never fall for the plans that lock you in on a cellular company with monthly phone payments. The phones are just as cheap to buy outright as being locked in for years with a particular carrier.
List price maybe, but the trades/promos/bogos/etc are usually better with the big boys. So far, it's been the upgrade deals that have kept me with Verizon. But, my all in my price/taxes/fees with Verizon is about $28/line. It's the older shared data plan - not unlimited, but comfortably enough for my group.

We currently have no equipment payments, and doubt we will get any new phones for a year or more. I plan on staying put until I need to evaluate equipment again.

You really think they would check to see if an old Windows 8 smart phone is still functioning?

I got another Windows 8 smartphone I still use with T-Mobile. Mainly because of Wi-Fi calling, and "Here" map app still gets updated map information to this day (less tracking from Big tech)

Well I'd have to say that Visible is a great unlimited solution for those of us paying too much for Verizon Wireless. Some of us see it as a solution. Some others appear to look for obstacles.

Did you send them a broken phone?

Nope. I have an unlocked phone that works for any carrier. I have not locked myself to a carrier or had a contract in 10 years. I buy an unlocked phone outright without any strings attached.

I am in the same boat, but it is not accepting the IMEI codes I put in.
I don't believe you would ever have to disconnect from one service to be able to register with Visible.

You don't, but if you don't have an acceptable IMEI, it only gives you the choice of purchasing a telephone with transfer of number. I wonder if I grab a Google Voice number and have that transferred.

Then again, one of their cheap Android phones is only $50

Yes and then take the SIM out of the cheap phone and put it in your current phone. It may or may not work. I know a Motorola Moto G6 or earlier won't work. Most iPhones, all Pixel, many Samsung work. I dumped my VZW Moto G6 and opted for an unlocked Pixel 4a 5G on Amazon when they were on sale for $449. Doesn't support Verizon's Ultra Wideband stuff but still does 5G on the lower bands.

I had no reservations porting my number since I was already on Verizon Prepaid. I have blazing speeds on Visible.

Here is the Odin patch thread.

Well I just used the patched Odin application and downloaded the latest Verizon firmware for G965U1 onto my G965U.
Easy Peasy! My S9+ is now a G965U1 model number.
I'll order a sim saying I have an iphone and hope the phone number port works smoothly.

Anyone have Verizon (or generic) porting to Visible advice?

It was painless. When I got the SIM and followed the activation directions on the Visible app, my first phone took almost 30 minutes to fully activate. I'm sure that involved the actual number port. My second phone took about 10 minutes and all was complete. The delay to fully activate had me anxious but everything worked perfectly in the end. My voice mailbox ported over as well since I was on Verizon Prepaid already...I didn't even have to rerecord my greeting.

If you see "no service" on the cell network, just be patient. You get text messages from Visible several times telling you to reboot the phone. The last reboot does the trick.

My phone is an iPhone 11 Pro which has eSim as well as physical Verizon sim.

Verizon had my phone locked even though I own it outright. So a call to Verizon and a request to unlock my phone was completed in minutes.

I downloaded the visible app and signed up for service using eSIM. After about 10mins my phone was up and running with a breeze I must say!

I am not looking to port my Verizon number over just yet.

I created my party pool:

please request to join my party if you’re interested!

The only issue I currently have, is that I cannot get my referral code! The page that shows the referral code, well the page loads, but without a code! Ugh! So off to live chat I go lol

It was a wait, but nonetheless learnt that if you sign up with using eSIM or Cold SIM (those were the exact words lol) there is currently a glitch in that their system does not generate a referral code. So I’ve been promised that a ticket has been submitted to technical support to have a referral code manually assigned to my account!

Fingers crossed... I shall update soon (hopefully)

Getting close now that my S9+ is prepped. Need some downtime to do the port over!

UPDATE:

FYI, I got a reply back for the support ticket that was created:

“I'm Emilian with Visible Care Team. We're reaching out regarding your referral code. Due to a known issue, unfortunately our eSIM accounts are currently not having a referral code attached to them”

I initiated another chat session with a visible rep and learnt that eSim and Cold Sims do not come with referral codes and whilst this is a heightened issue, there is currently no timeline for the fix.

I also learnt that activations can not be switched over to a physical SIM nor can a physical SIM activation be converted to eSIM and there is no provision to manually generate a referral code and attach it to that of an eSIM/Cold SIM account.

The only way to do this would be to cancel service and sign up again using a different email address (requesting a physical SIM) as your old email address does not get purged out of their system until 61 days.

Also of note is that, numbers activated or ported over for eSIM activation cannot then be converted to physical SIM and vice-versa.

I hope the above helps when deciding eSIM vs physical SIM.
