Endpoint Configuration Manager for FreePBX

I don't think you install t*f*t*p by running "install-polycom". What are you trying to say?

I don't believe the instruction say anything about that script - can you tell me why you did that?

Did you set the dhcp option 66 as outlined inthe instructions?

i followed the directions to the letter. however from what i see if you copy the code, which is somewhat hidden. and paste it into putty or whatever SSH program. it finishes running everything for you.

so this is what sets the options 66?

the error i am getting on the Polycom ip500 is saying it can not connect to the t*f*t*p server and locate file "0004f2003844.cfg" then states it will try to use cached files.

then reboots the phone.

Nothing in any of our scripts sets option 66 on your DHCP server. We leave that up to you. If you have Polycom only setup, you can modify option 66 to say "t*f*t*p://you server ip" . The other thing you can try is when the phone boots up, press the setup key, then enter the password and scroll down to the server type window and change it to TrivialFTP.

I may be way off here but it seems like the firmware that is loaded with setup-polycom is not supported on the ip500, I think you have to use older firmware for that phone.

Not quite to the letter it turns out. :confused5: Running the install-polycom script is not a part of the process for example.

I have re read most of your questions about this module, and so far, they all seem to be answered in the installation instructions:

If you are not familiar with End Point Managers - they can be a little tricky to understand - in both capabilities and limitations. Please take your time and read ALL of the article - and follow ALL of the instructions. Once thats done - then we can address actual problems with the module that come up.

Heres what you missed about the DHCP situation-

DHCP Support
When the telephones are first plugged into power in the network, the very first thing will attempt to do is to acquire a network address via DHCP. Along with the standard DHCP configuration information, it is necessary to establish option number 66 in the DHCP server. You will probably find this option is not presently configured in most of the DHCP servers you encounter.

Set DHCP option number 66 to the IP address or FQDN of your PBX.

It's very important that the IP address, or FQDN and that you provide for DHCP option 66 is a private address, not accessible from the outside world. Allowing your plain text configuration files to be examined by the public would be an immediate ticket to massive fraud potential. Trust us, and Steer Clear.

The method used to establish the DHCP configuration items varies with the DHCP server you are using, so step-by-step instructions about how to accomplish this task are outside the scope of this documentation. Please consult the documentation available from the DHCP server’s manufacturer.

polycom

500 and 300 models are not supported as they require different application files. If you have learned to do these configs, you can add the files and learn to mod our code to support them.

We most likely will not be adding these since
1. we don't have phones to test with
2. time vs importance puts them very low on the list

The reason it supports what it does is because those are what I have had to learn to support.
