Hi,

Would need some help here. I'm helping a non-profit to switch from POTS to VoIP- I've got my own PBX running off-site but I also want to have a fail-over account with Telnyx.

So the plan is to either get a GRP2601/2603 or a GXP1620 and hook that up to:
1. My PBX for main outbound connectivity
2. The phone should register directly to Telnyx for inbound so that incoming calls work even if my PBX is down, and use Telnyx as fail-over outbound

I've been reading docs at Grandstream but cannot figure out if it's possible to accomplish the fail-over from account 1 to 2.

And in general, how do you view Grandstream phones, the one mentioned above? Just light usage.
Or other phones in the same price range?

Thanks all!

The Grandstream phones will failover from a primary to a secondary server if the primary goes down. You cannot program them to send outbound to one and have incoming from the other. They would be all on Telnyx or all on the PBX.

You would also need an inbound provider that can automatically switch from one destination to another upon detecting failure.

Thanks. Telnyx can switch over so it sounds like I need to setup another PBX as fail-over or I need to figure out if I can register both my PBX and the phone to Telnyx for inbound so that Telnyx sends the inbound to both.

Because the Grandstream supports two VoIP accounts so I should be able to set both to active, right?

Yes. Each account can be on a different system but this seems overly and unnecessarily complex. If needs are minimal, just register the phones directly to a VOIP provider and be done with it? I know Europe VOIP rates are somewhat complex but you might check out a number of VOIP providers for the best pricing.

Yes unfortunately rates within EU are difficult... For example, rates to Swedish mobile phones are around $0.4/minute which is very high, but with Telnyx I can use local calling if I port my number to them which is $0.04/minute instead.
But on the other hand, Telnyx rates to UK for example are $0.6/min so I need to use my PBX for proper LCR, I'd like not to have to use Telnyx rates unless really required.
