R.I.P. Kazoo

We are still waiting with no further news about when v5.0 will be released. They had an announcement (changelog) about 5.0.(151) and also with 4.3.(240). So it seems there are no new github updates to the 4.3 branch also.

Yes, it seems from the chatter that they might be getting closer, but so far ... nothing there. FYI - I spoke to their team last November when they said V5 would be released in January ... still waiting. I'm progressing along with 4.3 still in test phase, but its been solid from testing and I plan to put a live client on it soon.

I am sure the CentOS fiasco threw a wrench into their plans for release. Some of the packages needed to install are only available for CentOS.

I've been playing with Sark/Sail V 6 for a few days
Multi tenant works. Tenant A uses ext 102, Tenant B uses ext 102, etc without prefixes or jumping through hoops
Not as polished or easy to use as IncrediblePBX

For that there is white label and horizontal scalability
which goes back to this statement
With cloud-based platforms down to a few bucks a month, I'm not sure why multi-tenant is that necessary any more. But... to each his own.
The only reason I can figure why multi-tenant is that necessary any more is because a person needs to have the same problem across all tenants. They must like having all their businesses calling their cell phone and complaining that phone service is down all at the same time

One of my reasons for exploring this is that Kazoo has multi homed instances so if one goes down the other handles the load immediately. Also - when you are managing many PBX (let's say hundred or more) - when you need to make changes, its a pain in the butt to change all hundred PBX, whereas Kazoo allows you to do it quickly. Even if you were to use it as your carrier routing and then you make a change to carriers - just change in one place instead of 100. Right now, I plan to initially utilize it for failover for all my PBX, hopefully more later down the road. Also ... anyone that wants to know more details I endorse and utilize the services of @fmateo05. He understands many of the complexities associated with Kazoo.

Just now I have added a third zone to my production cluster and it passed flawlessly (2 more DB nodes, also another kazoo, freeswitch, kamailio, iptables, etc). There were no downtimes during this deployment.

With this extra zone, the availability is increased with less possible risk about downtime.

Another proof of this feature are my two new client installs here on D.R (about 3 months ago). I am still waiting the first complaint regarding downtime.

so you don't have to fwconsole ma upgradeall, reload, and sig-fix 2 times on 100 servers?
That's what cron jobs are for. :arabia:

P.S. This is not a Holy War against Multi-Tenant. With sufficient scale, it makes perfect sense from a management and reliability standpoint.

Seriously, if you want multi-tenancy, then I suggest fusionpbx, it gives you FreeSwitch wrapped up in a comprehensive gooey with almost everything you wanted including fax and video, it needs a little RTFM'img though

As such, your $5 vultr/DO can support dozens of Ma and Pa operations, (dozens X $5 is always more than $5 ;-))

I spend some of my time trying to shovel 5 pounds of shit into a 2 pound bag, To stretch a metaphor, that five pounds is often reducible to one pound in the real world, mathematically and pragmatically one pound is always less than two and generally cheaper;-)

I know this is an old post. I want to inform that they (kazoo forums) are restricting and ignoring my posts by not providing feedback to each comment that i do. I posted some comments regarding tech help, giving info to "community", etc. After trying several times, i notice that concern (being ignored).

I always want to share my thoughts to FOSS community. Now it seems that does not matter.

Moving back to another platform? :(
Give priority for eploring another solutions?

I believe someone will rise and create a Kazoo Fork or something similar; because it's difficult to open source users to pay open source like privative software.

Or just use IncrediblePBX which is using all the Asterisk and FreePBX open source modules. Plus, people on this forum actually try to help others.

I think it is their culture there. I know they had a open source PBX/GUI system going called Blue Box for FreeSwitch some years ago. They were real A-holes to people on IRC. That project was abandoned.
