I don't have the equipment to test this at the moment, so I thought I would post this to get a jump start on the configuation.

This scenario is a temp solution until the carrier-class (Nortel CS1500) switch is installed.
What I need to do is to build an interface between the PSTN and a MTA VoIP device. The DialTones will be coming in on seperate physicals pairs and will need to terminate onto their specific MTAs.

PSTN---fx0 (port1) ---->MTA#1 (123)555-1234
fx1 (port2)----->MTA#2 (123)555-7845

I figure I'm going to need to build an inbound and outbound route for MTA and physical inbound port.

Like I said before... It's a temp solution and the idea is to terminate about 24-48 subscibers total. By that time, the DMS10 Switch upgrade should be complete.

Thanks in advance....

Hi

This does not sound too frightening - if I have understood the TLA MTA correctly. Multimedia Terminal adapter or gateway to the rest of us.

It's only about configuring inbound routes and outbound routes in Asterisk.

A better solution, and easier to use would be A2Billing, which will have all of the functionality of your new switch and maybe more, including rating and billing calls - email me at sales att asterisk2billing dot org for more information on this. or install it yourself, and have a play.

Since this is a telephone company and basically is an extension to their existing Switch, it's been decided that the SIP traffic will be terminated on the softswitch. The asterisk PBX is a temp solution unitl the upgrade can be completed.

Question: When a multiport device is installed 24 port analog card, does it show up as 24 ports in the trunking interface? If so, I'm thinking that I would need to setup a group for each MTA (subscriber) and physical port.
