so far have got to this....
have insatalled anew copy of cent OS 6.5 as detailed here....
http://nerdvittles.com/?p=9526

the pone thing that did fail was the kernel-devel install which came back with a 404 not found error 4 times...
I just did the following...
./piaf3-install
it downloads a load of stuff without error... (takes few minutes i.e. 100 seconds to 120 seconds then restarts and comes up with a login, I login and it just presents a bash prompt... not sure where to go...

Did you miss this step

Code:
# for CentOS/Scientific Linux 6.5/6.6 only, perform these additional steps:
wget http://pbxinaflash.com/update-kernel-devel
chmod +x update-kernel-devel
./update-kernel-devel
reboot

Not really I did thatt 4 times but the wget came back with a 404 error... as mentioned in my post.

OK I logged in via ssh and did all that ( I got a typo) and still it installs and restarts but just comes up with a bash prompt.... no installer....

You likely will need to restart the install. without the kernel devel, the other install will fail as well. You might be able to get away with rerunning the remaining installs, but you will most likely have some inconsistent state. The last time I looked the installers do not support "fixing" broken installs. Might I add that as soon as you have a working centos, you should do the remaining installs with ssh/putty. In addition to the copy/paste benefit, there was some strange behaviour with small console windows during the asterisk build. I believe the install text says to ssh in and maximize the window. (this may be fixed now, but it wasn't the last time I ran that installer)

The file doesn't give a 404 now, but maybe the CentOS repo is missing suddenly?

Hi folks...I'm borked here as well :-(

Tonight I tried this a second time and after waiting an hour or so asterisk does not get built. I saw some error fly by that said something about a server limit of 5 or something.

I used the centos 6.5 minimal iso and I'm running it under vSphere 5.5

anyone have any ideas?

Thanks leon

i didnt have to. everything but asterisk got built correctly. I installed the operating system and it did what was necessary to create the appropriate partitions etc.

8a. Configure Network [Click eth0 & Edit. Check:Connect Automatically then Apply & Close]
9. Time Zone [New York] ** Uncheck: System Clock Uses UTC **
10. Root Password [** make it very secure **]
11. Type Installation: Create Custom Layout with Primary Partition checked for 11a and 11c
11a. Create -> Standard Partition -> Mount Point: /boot Type: ext4 Size:200 Fixed
11b. Create -> Standard Partition -> Mount Point: blank Type: swap Size:2048 Fixed
11c. Create -> Standard Partition -> Mount Point: / Type: ext4 Size:Fill to Max Size
12. NEXT
13. FORMAT
14. WRITE CHANGES

Hi there! Yes I followed the articles when I installed CentOS it created the partitions. As I said asterisk failed but freepbx and everything around it installed.

Thanks leon

Did you follow the exact patition instructions ? I think you made a mistake

it didnt ask me for any, it created it itself.

i'll double check tonite and try it again.

thanks!!!

thanks Its always possible i overlooked something

Leon

ok tried it two more times.

first was with ubu and let it auto configure. same thing
tonight I went back to centos 3.6 and manually configured the partitions as you said before. auto config uses LVM the sizes are very similar to the manual ones. But this time I wanted to be sure. died again:
