I am confused about Zap Trunks...

I have installed a R8Fxx card with 4 FXO ports (2 Mod's)

Drivers are loaded and /etc/asterisk/zapata-auto.conf shows:
===========================================
; Span 1: Rhino RCB8FXX/1 "Rhino RCB8FXX/1" (MASTER)
signalling=fxs_ks
; Note: this is a trunk. Create a ZAP trunk in AMP for Channel 1
context=from-zaptel
group=0
channel => 1
signalling=fxs_ks
; Note: this is a trunk. Create a ZAP trunk in AMP for Channel 2
context=from-zaptel
group=0
channel => 2
---- More but I did not paste it all ------
============================================

Now for the question. In FreePBX, does "g0" represent group 0? All 4 channels show group=0.

Do I need to create a new zap trunk for each channel?

I created a Zap/1 and got an incoming call to go thru. Wasn't sure about things, deleted it and then recreated it again. Now it don't work. What did I do?:banghead:

Do I need a Zap/1, Zap/2, Zap/3 and Zap/4 (one for each port) ?:confused5:

Thanks again ... You folks are great.
I'm looking forward to the day I can do more than ask questions.;)

look like the answer is "YES" for all the questions

Bart

To put a little more meat on Bart's answer, you can treat all channels as a group (g0) or you can treat them individually, eg, zap/1 2, 3 and 4

Joe

So if I send calls out to Zap/g0 then they will just search for an available line?

And if I want to control the line order then I need to create a Zap for each line and set the order in the outbound route???

By the way.... after creating the Zap/1, deleting it, and recreating it, I had to totally shutdown and reboot. Then it started working.

Hey Joe...

Is there a problem having Zap/g0 and Zap/1 both configured in FreePBX?

How does it look in your Op Panel?

When I configured a PRI with 16 trunks, the Op Panel showed Zap 1, Zap 2, etc.

However when I configure the R8FX... trunk for 6 channels, Nothing is showing in my Op Panel.:banghead:

I have an R8Fxx card with 2 fxo modules. It is working fine, but the zap/1, ... ,zap/4 trunks do not show up in my FOP at all. I see my sip and iax2 trunks on FOP. Anyone else with this issue?

did anyone get an answer on this thread about the zap trunks not showing in the fop panel? I have the same issue with a rhino r24fxx-ec card with 6 fxo trunks. Calls work fine but the trunks do not show in the FOP. Is this normal?
