I have setup PIAF on Raspberry Pi on external USB hard drive running 3 extensions.
Everything works no problem, except that any phone that calls the PBX is not presented with a conventional ringtone, like the type we've experienced for the last 100 years, but instead produces a very loud musical ringtone on the calling phone.

It is the type of ringtone that you would expect the called phone on PBX to be making not the phone initiating the call.

This ringtone is not heard with outgoing calls from the PBX. The ringtone in this case is the standard conventional ringtone.

My system has 2 trunks and 2 DID. Makes no difference which number is used incoming, the ringtone is still the same.

I would appreciate it if anyone could give me a clue as to where this incoming ringtone may be being generated so I can try and get the system back to a conventional ringtone.

your DID provider is supplying that ringtone. You didn't mention who your provider is. If for some reason you can't alter your provider config you can have asterisk immediately answer the incoming call but at the same time asterisk can generate a ringtone.

Thank you briankelly63
I'm in Australia, the provider is MyNetFone, too good a provider to be thinking of changing.
When the phones are connected to MyNetFone without the PBX all ringtones are normal. Send them through the PBX and the musical ringtone appears.
As I don't Pay MyNetFone for the PBX they will not help me with this problem.
Now that I know the problem is at the provider end, I'll try and tackle it from that angle.
At least I know I don't have to rip the PBX to pieces to find a solution.
