I have been using a Shuttle Box as my PBXinaflash server for a while :) This little Shuttle Box has been around since 2003! Well it happened. The power went off because of rain and it died. It didn't help that the box had been shut off for about 15 minutes total in the last 3 years.

So I decided it is time to upgrade from that P4 with 512 megs of ram to something new and exciting! AKA, something cheap at Frys :) I got a Asus M4A78L-M motherboard, with 2 gigs of ram and an AMD 1640 Processor.

Well I get a kernel panic during the install. I get the menu to where you can hit enter, type auto, etc. If I hit enter or type auto, the panic occurs. This is the PBX in a flash 1.4 32 bit. For my own sanity, I downloaded a CentOS 5.4 live cd. It boots fine and pops up a nice gui.

So my question is . . .

How do I handle this now? Do I do a 5.4 install and then . . . how do I do a PBiAF install? Do I keep my tears going and worry about having to install some lesser product?

Thanks.

Well first off PBX in a flash 1.4 does not use CentOS 5.4. It uses 5.2

So try getting CentOS 5.2 and trying to do a live boot.

Also PBX in a flash doesn't even become PBX in a flash until after CentOS installs, soo it's a strange issue you have indeed. But like I said, try CentOS 5.2.

Specifically: CentOS release 5.2 (Final) :32 Bit Kernel: 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5

It is a 5.2 issue. This motherboard/cpu seems to have 5.2 problems.

So again . . . :)

Is there a way to take a 5.4 CD, do an install, then install PBXiaf onto it? I see that the regular PBXiaf does an install, then downloads a big ole package and goes to town.

I would prefer not having to do a 5.4 install, then install a VM and then do PBXiaf.

Thanks.

The textbook methodology would be to install a fresh copy of PIAF from the beta repository using the CentOS 5.4 flavor. Then bring your old system and new system up to the same version of FreePBX. Then make a FreePBX backup on old system and restore it to the new system. It's about a 2 hour project. :wink5:

Thank you. I didn't see the 1.5 and 1.6 versions. My tears look like they are drying up!

I did not want to have to roll my own asterisk install again. That was such a pain in the butt in the past and that is why I am so appreciative of the GREAT work that you guys do.

Just to repeat... there's nothing beta about our betas other than the fact that we haven't had time or resources to fully test CentOS 5.3 and 5.4. Other than CentOS, everything else is identical including the payload files.

Ah. Ok. Thanks!

Everything is back to functional with the 5.4 iso. :)

Now to hit myself because I kept pushing off going out and getting a usb stick to do whole disk backups. But the more I look at it, I do not need to do that. Barebones only works if it is near the same hardware. Time to backup configs, etc.

Thanks again.
